Château De La Calonnière
Vignoble d’Anjou-Saumur
The vineyard of Château de la Calonnière, around 20 hectares, is located in Martigné-Briand. This wine-growing town is located between Angers, Saumur and Cholet in the heart of Anjou and the vineyards of the Loire Valley.
The Angevin mildness, its temperate climate, the schist and sandstone soils, the Layon for the horizon; here is the secret which allows us to obtain the best of our grapes and to produce a wide range of Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée wines: Cabernet d'Anjou, Rosé de Loire, Anjou rouge, Anjou Villages, Coteaux du Layon and Crémant of the Loire.
The harvest is done manually or with a harvesting machine depending on the appellations. The Coteaux du Layon is harvested in several sorts so as to choose the most concentrated bunches. The aging of still wines is ensured from the entry of the grapes into the cellar until bottling.
According to our observations and our experience, we use the methods of protection and maintenance of the vineyard which seem to us the most respectful of the environment according to the principles of sustainable viticulture, always having the objective of preserving the quality of the grapes.
