The Museum of the Montalcino Community and Brunello was born from the vision of Stefano Cinelli Colombini and is located within the Fattoria dei Barbi estate.
This museum captures the soul of a village that, though now world-renowned for its wine, has always stood for perseverance, craftsmanship, struggle, and joy — a place of deep cultural identity and respect for others and for nature.
The exhibition unfolds through two thematic paths:
-
Montalcino before Brunello – an exploration of traditional trades, the lives of sharecroppers, and rural heritage.
-
The history of Brunello di Montalcino – what this wine is, how it was created, who the pioneers were, how it’s cultivated and produced, and the unique terroir and microclimates of Montalcino.
The visit also includes access to the Labyrinth of Brunello, a permanent exhibit of over 200 bottles from different Montalcino wineries.
This visit can be combined with:
-
The Historic Cellar Tour
-
The Caseificio dei Barbi Tour
-

-

-

Ideal for wine lovers and history enthusiasts alike, this immersive journey reveals the evolution of a world-class wine and the community that shaped it.
