Domaine de Cambes AOC Bordeaux Rouge 2017

Tasting Notes: 

The 2017 Domaine de Cambes has a medium to deep garnet-purple color with very nice notes of kirsch, warm plums and black raspberries with hints of roses, cinnamon stick and tobacco. The palate is medium to full, firm and chewy, with lots of juicy fruit and a long savory finish.

The Winery:

The Château Roc de Cambes stands near the Gironde’s estuary. The property is the well-kept treasure of the Mitjavile couple, who choose to isolate part of their harvest, and elaborate there a unique cuvée: Domaine de Cambes. The blend of three grape varieties, merlot, cabernet franc and malbec is dominated by the former (65%). The vines draw their energy from the relatively poor clay-limestone soils. This terroir retains freshness, which is salutary in a region weakened by drought and climate changes. The harvest happens late here, and gives birth to a fleshy and full-bodied wine. The Mitjavile, once again, prove their winemaking talent.
