Château Pique-Sègue
Bergerac
Classified in the XIV century by the Archbishop of Bordeaux, Château Pique-Sègue vineyard was, at the end of the XIX century, « one of the most beautifully sited in the region », having a reputation which placed its wines among the best known « crus » of Montravel and Bergerac. The property, with an area of 300 ha, including 66 ha in vines, managed by Philippe and Marianne Mallard, also includes a large herd of Limousin HBL cattle - which works for the reproduction of animals of high genetic value. Thanks to the efforts of leaders such as the Mallard, the wines of Bergerac and Montravel have achieved a renaissance over the past 20 years, notably through excellent practices in viticulture and winemaking.
Their wines receive each year numerous national & international awards. Professional magazines, such as Decanter, Wine and Spirit International, and reference every year in the best wine guides such as Guide Hachette where several ♥ “Coups de Cœur” for red and white wines. Seeking to extract the best of the fruits, the wines are mainly composed in “assemblages ” in order to provide elegance and complexity.
Château Pique-Sègue is certainly the main producer in Montravel area.
Using organic materials, our viticulture is respectful of nature in order to retain the specific aromas of each grape variety. Vineyard qualified HVE3, High Environmental Value.
A big modern winery, equipped to a very high technical specification, ensure a high and constant quality to the wines.
Wine making process/Ageing:
Red wines: in tanks to develop the fruits aromas, or matured in oak barrels for 15 months White & Rosé wines: kept on their fine lees in vats
Location: between St Emilion and Bergerac, on the top of the northern hills of the Dordogne river.
