Château Du Payre
Côte de Bordeaux
In the heart of the country of castles and abbeys of Entredeux-Mers, Château du Payre is a family wine estate of 40 hectares passed down from mother to daughter for 5 generations, since its acquisition at auction in 1881. A paradox since in the land of "peyre" (stone in Gascon), Château du Payre, derived from the Gascon patois "lou payre", means father. Ideally situated in the Côtes, near Cadillac, with southern exposure, the property has clay-limestone soil suitable for the emblematic Bordeaux grape varieties.
Beyond this unique transmission in the Bordeaux region, the vineyard has always been cultivated with respect for the environment. The company's philosophy and spirit have enabled it to be awarded Terra Vitis certification since 2008 and High Environmental Value (HVE 3) certification in 2018.
The commitment continues with the conversion to organic farming for 2023 for the entire vineyard. Many efforts are thus made by the team, always in a spirit of respect and ethics.
We offer a wide range of quality wines, from sweet white wines to the characteristic red wines of the Bordeaux region, as well as original wines that are worth a visit, such as the rare, but excellent, Crémants de Bordeaux (white and rosé).
We also have a bed and breakfast activity on the family wine estate. Enjoy the warmth and beauty of Château du Payre and the hospitality of our dedicated team.
