Albert Bichot Domaine du Clos Frantin Chambertin Grand Cru 2019

Elegant, racy and complex on the nose, it develops notes of green tea, cigar tobacco, prune, dates and rosemary. Fat, ample, and powerful on the palate, this wine is balanced and velvety. The finish is long and aromatic.

Le Chambertin has been known by this name since the 13th century. The story goes that a winegrower named Bertin would have planted his field with the same grape variety as his illustrious neighbor of Clos de Bèze. The wines were perfect and its owner named these vines ‘le Champ de Bertin’ which later became Chambertin. Since then, this appellation, which was Napoleon's favorite, has acquired such notoriety that the village of Gevrey has become Gevrey-Chambertin. Our plot of 17 ares is located at the top of the climat, on relatively marly land. This results in a maturity that is often later than the other plots of our estate (therefore harvested in the last ones).
