Wynns Coonawarra Estate is the region's pre-eminent wine producer and largest single vineyard holder with the best and longest established vineyard sites in Coonawarra. Its wines are regarded as benchmarks for the district; lauded for both their consistent quality and depth of flavour.
The Estate was founded in 1891 by John Riddoch who planted vineyards and in 1896 completed Wynns famous triple gabled winery, now featured on Wynns iconic labels. David Wynn purchased the winery and vineyards in 1951 renaming it Wynns Coonawarra Estate.
Coonawarra’s international reputation is derived from the regionally specific terra rossa soil and indeed Wynns Coonawarra Estate has some of the oldest vines in the region and is largely regarded as the estate that made Coonawarra famous.
