Viña Clos de Luz
Cachapoal
The Clos de Luz vineyard grows its grapes in the small Valley of Almahue (Cachapoal), where there is one of the oldest Carménère in Chile and probably in the world, planted by our grandmother Luz in 1945.
The grapes are grown by hand, the vines are not grafted, not clonal, each plant is unique and different, thus giving richness and complexity to our wines. It is a natural winemaking process.
As a principle, at Clos de Luz we make wines using the ancient production techniques of the Almahue Valley. We privilege the use of used barrels in order to keep the fruit over the aromas of wood; We harvest earlier and do not use industrial yeasts to ferment the wines, only native yeasts. This is how we obtain fresher, more gastronomic wines.
